Tucows offers two methods to create and maintain email accounts:
The Mail Adminstration Center (MAC) is a web-based interface for administering Tucows hosted email domains.
The MAC gives customers complete control over their domains, workgroups, mailboxes, administrators, and group aliases. If the customer's domain has relatively few mailboxes, the MAC may be the only administration tool that they will need. For larger domains it is a powerful tool for support staff to perform basic maintenance functions, such as password resets.
The Account Provisioning Protocol (APP) is a protocol that enables real-time automated provisioning of the Tucows Email Service via a secure Internet connection. The APP interface automates the creation and management of domains and mailboxes on the Tucows Email Service.
Common uses of the APP include: developing custom sign-up pages, or tying into an existing provisioning architecture, where the Tucows provisioning database mirrors all provisioning events in real time.
If customers wish to collect demographic data during the webmail sign-up and registration process, they may use the APP to create a custom sign-up page that will interact with Tucows databases.
Use of the APP requires custom development. Documentation, including source code examples in Perl, are available. If customers require further programming assistance, Tucows Professional Services is available to assist. A detailed developer's guide for the hosted APP is provided.
